Anand Jain
Anand Jain is the co-founder of CleverTap, a company that helps businesses optimize their marketing and advertising campaigns. He previously served as the CTO for Burrp - a restaurant review app which was later acquired by the publicly traded yellow pages company, Infomedia 18 Ltd.
Anand has more than two decades of experience leading engineering, design and IT teams. With this knowledge, he was able to architect software for high-profile clients like Motorola, AT&T and Brience in the US before striking out on his own with Burrp & CleverTap.
Anand Jain completed his schooling from St. Xaviers High School and holds a degree in commerce from Sahajanand Arts & Commerce College.
Early Life
Anand lost his father aged 12 and this had a bearing on his entrepreneurial spirit. Not content with studying commerce, he spent much of his time tinkering around with computers as a hobby and assembled his first computer at age 14. He also wrote his own first program as a teen - a commercial software for advocates.
While still in college, Ananad started a small company called Compoint Computers. This was a transformative learning phase which would prepare him for his second stint as a founder. He juggled college, work and even spent some of his time going door to door selling soap to make extra money. He spent his nights assembling computers & sold each unit with an impressive profit margin of Rs. 3000-4000.
Launching CleverTap
In 2005 Anand Jain founded the company Burrp which became one of India's first food tech platforms with restaurant reviews and recommendations. (It was acquired by Infomedia18, an arm of Network18, in 2009). It was during his time at Network18 that Anand met his future co-founders Suresh & Sunil - and in 2013, the three quit their jobs to start CleverTap.
